Manjunatheshwara Temple is devoted to shiva and houses a lingam of gold. The Temple is unusual in that it is run by a Jain administration and poojas are conducted by Madhva priests.

The present head of Dharmasthala, the 21st in succession to the Dharmadhikari Peetha, sri Veerendra Heggade is the dispenser of justice who word is law. The past 25 years have witnessed revolutionary progress in religious, cultural and educational fields, shaped by the humanitarian concerns of the Dharmadhikari whose life is dedicated to the service of God and that of fellow beings. About The College

SDM College of Ayurveda & Hospital, Udupi was established in 1958 to revive Ayurveda as a modern science. It is an institution that represents the best of traditional knowledge and contemporary excellence, managed by SDME Society ®, Ujire. Padmabhooshana Dr.D.Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala and the President of S.D.M. Educational Society is the inspiration behind the success of the College, with his commitment to human Welfare and Social Development through Education.
Ever since 50 years of inception, the Institution has rendered Yeomen Service to the public by providing health care, as well as to the students a qualitative value based ayurvedic education. The period from 1st July 2007 – 2008 has been recognized as Golden Jubilee Year.
The Institution provides Ayurvedic education at Graduate and Post graduate levels which are regulated by the statutory Apex body Central Council for Indian Medicine (C.C.I.M.) affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore.

SDM Ayurveda Hospital
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda Hospital was established at Udupi in 1958 with its Golden jubilee year in 2008. Since its inception the hospital has developed an environment where the original ayurvedic therapies are administered in contemporary infrastructural facilities. Other facilities include surgical, maternity, pediatric, physiotherapy and yoga sections. There is an intensive care unit for in house patients. The total bed strength of the hospital is 350 with 160 beds in general 35 beds in semi special 145 beds in special and 10 beds in deluxe categories. All services are economically priced. The medicines used in the hospital are manufactured at its own pharmacy.
