Panchakarma for prevention and healing

Ayurveda offers unique therapeutic measures that help in healing mild to chronic diseases and overall leading a healthy lifestyle. Ayurveda is not just a magic based system, rather it is based on understanding the physiology and various stages of imbalance. Panchakarma helps in eliminating the deeply seated toxins from the body, then allowing healing and restoration of the tissues, channels, physical and mental functions. "Pancha karma" literally means five actions. It consists of five cleansing aspects. Panchakarma is used as a seasonal health maintenance or as a longevity-rejuvenation program. It is not just a healing method but is also used for prevention and longevity. Various therapies are used in various ways, depending upon the particular person, imbalance or chronic disease, season etc. Herbs and cleansing food are also vey important during this cleansing period. Sometimes, Panchakarma is repeated several times to cleanse deeply seated toxins. It is recommended to do Panchakarma at least twice a year (preferably at the beginning of fall and spring). It's equally important to establish a diet and lifestyle that is balancing for one's constitution. If the person gets back to old, wrong habits, that will suppress the renewed healing energies. The toxins will directly enter the cleansed tissues and go deeper than before, which will cause severe imbalances. Therefore, it is extremely important to follow the next step of rebuilding the tissue and bring in new level of strength and purity.
